Our History

"SATISAR HAS EVERYTHING PRECIOUS TO INDIA'S HERITAGE" The work of "SATISAR" is both the means and the destination.

Since the pre historical times, the Valley of Kashmir was revered as the abode of Hara(gj ), Whose beloved consort (gj fiz;su ) is believed to have assumed the form of Satisar. * this vale of Kashmir was populated by the Brahmins with a rich Vedic scholarship and lore. These Brahmins are the original natives of the Kashmir valley and are popularly known as "Pandits or Bhatt's". They have a written History of 6000 yrs. dating back beyond the "Neel mat era"

The vale of Kashmir was inhabited by Brahmins from the time immemorial with a rich Vedic and tantric scholarship and Lore. These aborigines of this unique and sacred land have been instrumental and responsible for her origin and differentiation. Kashmiri Brahmins have dramatically and gracefully, after undergoing lot of hard penances, offering sacrifices, very difficult austerities, prayers, and spiritual merit motivated Mata Uma and gods to bring about total topographical changes during the early period of its existence.

"Kalhan Pandit" commenced his work in the saka Year 1070 which, according to him, corresponded with the year 4224 of the Laukika or Kashmiri era which is still current in Kashmir and the neighbouring hills. It is customary in India in speaking dates to drop centuries and "Kalhan" throughout his poem "Rajtarangine" mentions the dates without the centuries of the Laukika era. The Laukika era is also known Lougha Kshya or the Saptrishi era (The Great Bear era). Kashmiri Pandits are descendents of Rishi's and Muni's like Bhardwaja, Datatreya….These People had initiated Shri Rama and Krishna and We follow their values and gene through the Gotra system.

During 6000 yrs. of their history, they have made colossal contribution to world civilization in the field of religion, philosophy, Sanskrit literature,Agam and Nigam tantras,Languages, medicine, history, Political Sciences, art and music, astronomy, Astrology, preservation and conservation of natural resources (Fauna & Flora) and aesthetics etc.

Devoted to the study of Vedas and other higher secrets of life and the universe they have always remained engaged in self-study. Kashmiri Pandit's main forte has been learning which assumed a high profile in the past when Vedic philosophies reigned supreme in Kashmir, in centre of excellence at Sharda peeth. It provided instructions to the scholars from as far away as Kerala and West Bengal, thus cementing the bonds of emotional and cultural integration of the people of India. Medieval Historian Alberuni (1017-1030) writes "Varanasi and Kashmir are the high schools of Vedic and Aagmic sciences" Allberuni further reports that the Brahmins did not allow Vedas to be committed to writing because they were to be recited according to certain modulations.

They, therefore, avoided the use of pen as it was liable to cause errors. And the Vedas are consequently lost. He further says, "Not long ago in the time of 'Vasukara' a native of Kashmir and a famous Brahmin undertook the task of explaining Vedas and committing them to writing because, he was afraid that Vedas might be forgotten". He had taken upon himself a task from which all shirked. Thus the Vedas were first written in Kashmir for the purpose of commenting upon them by 'Vasukara'.

A small village near 'Sumbal' Vasukara is perhaps named after this great Kashmiri Brahmin where 'Rupa Bhawani' a Kashmiri female saint later settled for study as well as for Penance. Survival of the fittest' changed to 'Struggle for existence' for the creators, preservers, and cultivators of Mata Kashmir. For the people who have nurtured it with sweat and blood to preserve and nurture the Kashmiri culture its heritage, its sanctity, its identity and its socio-cultural ethos that made it a heaven on the earth. The Kashmiri pandit rule descended through various dynasties till the year 1324 AD.

ueLrs nsonsos'k ç.krkfrfouk'ku It was after that the misfortune descended to Kashmir in the form of invaders from the North Western passes. These invaders had remained untouched by civilization. These savages destroyed temples, places of learning and burnt down what ever written manuscripts or books passed their vision. During this period of the aborigines of Kashmir were offered three choices of death, conversion or exile in accordance with the system of Persuasion, Persecution & Execution. Kashmiri ethos never got detached from its moorings as recorded in the noble utterances of the anonymous Sages of our Upanishads and the Vedic lore, Pandits preferred death to change their religion and withstood stoically the ruthless monsters of invaders rule and when pushed back to the wall, they preferred exile to places of safety all around the globe. A cultural invasion over the tip of swords from Iran, Afghanistan etc. started but it never could get hold of Kashmiri Brahmans. (The time followers of Pre Vedic , Vedic and tantric Marquis)

Pathways through which members of the Kashmiri community passed in their escape to save the essentials of culture from the tyranny of invaders 700yrs ago are mute witnesses to the immense suffering the Kashmiri has undergone to preserve and up hold his distinctive style and heritage. History has subjected Kashmir's to severe test taught them to bear their lot with patience and fortitude. Deeply religious the Kashmiri Pandit has never met violence with violence, but they were stabbed at the back always. During the last 700yrs. the docile Kashmiri Pandit Hindu minority has been lying very low and never indulged in any form of violence. But the discrimination based on religious feeling and sentiments continued to be practiced even after the India got Independence. These can be seen by the continuous outbursts against India.

Soon this undercurrent of religious discrimination got a shot in the arm with appearance of gun and terror, the terrorists decided to eliminate this minority through harassment, force, torture, plunder and murder. A systematic campaign in this regard was started. They started their agenda by way of hounding out the Hindus /Kashmir Pandit form the valley. It was decided to achieve this aim in a very sophisticated manner so as to avoid any reaction or retaliation in Jammu or other parts of India. Instead of indulging in communal riots as such they went in for selective killing and also create conditions which would make it impossible for Hindus (Kashmir Pandit) to stay in the valley.

Fear started talking toll of the Hindus (Kashmiri Pandit). They hoped that the moment of hopelessness and desperation may not come, deep inside the core of their hearts they began to get prepared for the death. Warning of gun wielded terrorists did reach the Kashmiri Pandit community that their presence in the valley will not be tolerated any more and at that time nobody from the conscious world came forward to support, this fear gripped minority.. As the first ray of sun touched the Kashmir the darkness started to descend by way of mass exodus. Groups and groups of fear-stricken Kashmiri Pandits without even their handy articles left the valley. Property did not matter; they had the honour intact with torrential tears gushing down from countless pandits they surged forward blindly dredging along unknown paths dragging their feet towards unknown destinations-pulled forward like helpless pawns. Thus they were forced to leave their villages where their ancestors had been living form the dawn of history of mankind. oqeju gqUn vfl ;sfr vksy iuqu uqUncksu L;Bk ;p+dksy iuqu

Kashmiri Brahmin is representing and preserving the Vedic traditions .If at any time this community gives into the pressure of displacement their roots of Vedic and Pre vedic order will be lost forever.

So, it is imperative on all the people who believe in the rich Vedic order that they come forward to preserve these traditions and people for the present and future generations.
